Weevil-mania
My Imaginary Menagerie
Weevil
I will fear no weevil... E.O. Wilson once said the Creator must have an Inordinate fondness for Beetles. And among beetles, We have the most species Of weevils. Many are considered pests By those of us less Than gods: The boll weevil, In a "wave of evil," Almost destroyed the American cotton crop In the late 1800s, Contributing to the Great Migration of African Americans to the Northern states in the early 1900s. But look at this Indonesian creature! Iridescent colors! I have found an Inordinate fondness.
About this poem
A few friends have asked about the red stamp with Asian characters. The characters are pronounced “Ha-tchi” in Japanese and signify “Eight Wisdom,” to represent the signature for Hummingbird Hatchling.

We love what we love. The closer I look at insects, the more beautiful they become. I'm in love with woodlice at the moment.
